For quite a while ChurchMCR.com has been unstable. You might have seen the "Whoops!" page or a confusing error message page from time to time.
I (Ben Gibbs, ChurchMCR lead developer) have been working hard over the last few months and have rebuilt the system using the latest version of Ruby on Rails and other technologies. This means that the code base behind ChurchMCR.com is much more stable and secure.
To get this version, version 2, up and running, I've had to miss out some features such as Conversations, Places, the Tag Cloud, the Podcast page and the Tour will now need new screen shots. Some of these features will be added back to the site down the line, but other's won't. If you'd really like a feature added back on to ChurchMCR.com, you can let us know with our new Get Satisfaction Feedback system.
Get Satisfaction allows you and ChurchMCR to communicate about this web application and service. If you've got a great idea for ChurchMCR, or a problem, click on the "Feedback" link at the bottom of everypage and we'll be intouch sharpish!
Another big change for Organisations is that their pages highlight their name and logo much more than before. The big red ChurchMCR block at the top of the page has gone leaving just a strip of navigation buttons, then the rest of the page is about you!
Individual people's profiles have changed too, highlighting the Organisations they support here on ChurchMCR. Previously this was way down at the bottom of their profile page, but supporting Organisations is a big feauture on ChurchMCR so we thought it should be a big feature on your profile too.
We have also changed hosting providers to brightbox, a specialist in hosting Ruby on Rails applications. This move has been thanks to a startup company we cannot reveal yet, but we will tell you about them soon.
Thanks, and all feedback is muchly appreciated!
